However, also from my admin account, the report did not seem to be any different. I ran it rom my user account so no access to the sys logs. But without a little more troubleshooting, it would be premature to jump straight to there. If the memory pressure graph is getting high, and turning to yellow or red, you've got a memory problem, and will need to either run fewer apps concurrently or get more RAM.īeyond that, there could be some other issue with the system itself or even the hardware. After your system has been running for a while, and you're pushing it as hard as you ever do, open up Activity Monitor and switch to its Memory tab. If you're running a lot of very memory-heavy apps, it's possible 8 GB isn't enough. In addition, you've got a fair amount of RAM, and your system doesn't show any signs of memory issues, but it had only been running for half an hour when this report was made. (Good catch, OT, I'd have missed that!) A faster drive or an SSD would help. I'm sure the 5400 RPM drive OT mentioned is partially to blame.
However, I don't think that's the case here. If you were having serious problems, I'd be tempted to call it a hardware issue. I'd agree with Old Toad, you've got a very clean system, in terms of things running in the background. Not terrible or so, but there are noticeable delays in the operation. While i love the design of the machine and the clear appearance of Yosemite, I feel that this machine is running rather sluggish. I could still return this and get a more powerful iMac - but would this solve the problems?
#Igrabber 1.6 for mac mac
I guess my question comes down to this: is the machine I bought to slow to guarantee a smooth operation with a basic OS X? Or am I expecting too much? Should I buy more RAM to make it faster? Should I have gotten the SSD? As I wrote above, it is my first Mac so I don't have anything to compare it against. I will use this machine to edit some of my family photos, so I can see running Photoshop or so on this thing in the future. itunes playing a song, Mail and iPhoto open at the same time)Īt this time I am not running any powerful apps (just what comes with the machine), so I had expected everything to be a bit smoother.
